CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) - Two men were arrested in connection with the death of a man whose body was found in a drum floating in the San Diego Bay in October.

According to Chula Vista police, 52-year-old Timothy John Cook and 38-year-old Derrick Jefferson Spurgeon were arrested Wednesday morning in connection with the death of 28-year-old Omar Medina.

Police confirmed they served search warrants on homes in the 500 block of McIntosh Street in Chula Vista and the 14000 block of Rios Canyon Road in El Cajon that led to the arrests of Cook and Spurgeon. Police did not disclose what evidence led to the arrests.

Chula Vista police said the arrests "were made in cooperation with the San Diego Sheriff's Department and the United States Marshals Services."

According to police, Medina's body was found on Oct. 12 after a diver discovered a white, 55-gallon drum floating near the surface of the bay.

The drum was anchored to cinder blocks, police said.

Medina had been reported missing for two weeks when his body was found.
