Armed guards for WD-40 secret formula's bank change

Posted

San Diego (KGTV) - The secret formula for WD-40 has a new home after transferring banks.

The recipe for the the water displacing spray was in a suitcase handcuffed to the CEO as it was escorted by armed guards in a Brinks truck this morning.

The commonly used household product was invented in San Diego 65 years ago.

“It’s written on a spiral notepad and it is actually the notebook of the chemist at the time,” said WD-40 CEO Garry Ridge.

The formula has never been patented which is why there is such an emphasis on its security.

“I don’t know if I’ll ever see it again,” said Ridge kissing the suitcase before it was placed in the vault.

The $2.5 billion dollar company is headquartered in San Diego.
