TIJUANA, Mexico (KGTV) — A magnitude 3.5 earthquake centered in Tijuana late Friday night rattled residents across San Diego County.
The jolt happened around 11:40 p.m., the U.S. Geological Survey reported. Several residents throughout San Diego took to social media to report feeling the seconds-long temblor, some as far north as Bonsall, about 55 miles from the quake's epicenter.
"What just happened i was so scared i thought it was a ghost at first those in san diego who else felt the earthquake," tweeted one San Diego resident.
Twitter user @Cal619Guy reported feeling the tremor in San Ysidro, a few miles from the epicenter. He said his "bed shook violently for two seconds!"
Some 10News viewers described the quake as "strong" and "loud."
"Didn't feel it, but heard it in Eastlake. It was unusual. Odd, loud rumble then walls creaking but no shaking. I thought the water heater had exploded," Dexter Torres wrote on the 10News Facebook page.
David Tenorio said he was in Tijuana when the quake struck and described hearing a "Weird loud noise then a quick big shake like someone crashed into the wall."
No structural damage reports or tsunami warnings have been issued at this time.
