SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Three boaters were rescued after their 32-foot vessel sank off the coast of La Jolla Saturday.

The boaters were about 40 miles off the coast of La Jolla at about 8 a.m. when they alerted Coast Guard Sector San Diego (USCG) that their vessel was taking on water.

An alert was put out to mariners in the area and the Coast Guard's MH-60T Jayhawk rescue helicopter and patrol boat Cutter Petrel were sent to the location to assist the boaters in distress.

At about 8:30 a.m., a nearby U.S. Navy vessel responded and rescued the boaters, USCG said in a release.

All three were wearing life jackets. They were transferred to the Cutter Petrel and brought to Dana Point, Calif.

No injuries were reported.

The vessel completely sank, according to USCG.
