SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The streets of San Diego will once again be filled with runners and lined with musicians for the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon.
Now in its 21st year, the San Diego Rock 'n' Roll Marathon race weekend kicks off Saturday, June 2, with the 5K race. The main events -- the full and half marathons -- take place on Sunday, June 3.
With over 30,000 people expected to participate in the races and another 100,000 spectators, that will mean closed roads, vehicle or foot traffic in and around the downtown and Balboa Park areas, and other delays.
We’ve put together the following information to help you navigate through the busy race weekend:
5K: June 2 at 7 a.m.
Start line: 6th Ave. and Palm St.
Finish line: Balboa Ave. at Olive St.
Half Marathon: June 3 at 6:15 a.m.
Start line: 6th Ave. and Quince St. at Balboa Park
Finish line: Ash St. at Union St.; finish line festival at Waterfront Park
Full Marathon: June 3 at 6:15 a.m.
Start line: 6th Ave. and Quince St. at Balboa Park
Finish line: Ash St. at Union St.; finish line festival at Waterfront Park
Race day road closures/traffic:
-- If you plan to make it down to run, cheer, or just enjoy San Diego for the day, be aware of the impending traffic and road closures you'll come across.

Event organizers recommend downloading the Waze smartphone app to keep track of road closures. Google Maps does not take into account road closures on race day.

Public transit
--San Diego bus and trolley service will be up and running for participants, volunteers, and observers on June 3 as well.
Free parking will be available at SDCCU Stadium on race day, with Green Line trolley service available at the nearby station starting at 4:15 a.m. The best stations to get to the starting line will be the Fifth Ave. Station (Orange and UC San Diego Blue Lines) and the County Center/Little Italy Station (Green Line).
For spectators, MTS says the best viewing areas for the full marathon will be along the Green Line at Old Town, Morena/Linda Vista and Fashion Valley.
