SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Dozens of volunteers showed up to SDCCU Stadium in Mission Valley Wednesday to help pack school supplies for homeless children getting ready to go back to school.
As part of the “Stuff the Bus” initiative, volunteers were at the stadium sorting out items like pencils, pens, and notebooks, and then packing them into backpacks for students. Several companies made donations to help the cause, including Vessel Bags and Passion Planners.
More than 22,000 children in San Diego County are experiencing homelessness and don't have money for school supplies, and event organizers are hoping this effort will get these students well-equipped to start the new school year.
SDCCU is collecting donated school supplies until Sunday, August 4. For more information visit sdccu.com/stuffthebus.
