Marie Coronel is the proud daughter of Filipino parents. Marie was born and raised in San Diego. She graduated from Eastlake High School in Chula Vista. Marie received a Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism and a Minor in Political Science from California State University, Northridge.

Marie is very proud of her Filipino-American heritage. She is very involved in the Fil-Am community, not just as a member, but as an advocate for the issues impacting them. Marie also enjoys showcasing her Filipino culture through her stories. Marie grew up in the South Bay, and stays connected with the community she’s still apart of, through her reporting.

Having grown up Catholic, faith is also an important part of Marie’s life. She often reports on religion and spirituality.

Marie is an Emmy award winning journalist who has worked in newsrooms all over the country. She was a reporter and anchor at WTKR in Virginia and WHAG in Maryland. Before that, Marie worked as an assignment editor at KTNV in Las Vegas. Marie got her start in television news, working as a reporter and host for Adelphia Cable in Simi Valley. In addition to news reporting, she's also worked for the Jimmy Kimmel Live show.

Outside of news, Marie is a passionate San Diego sports fans. When she’s not working, you can catch her at a Padres game or at her boys’ baseball, soccer, and basketball games. Marie also enjoys family time with her husband, their three sons, and her Mom.
