Avocado is definitely having its moment, and one grocery store chain is taking the phenomenon to a new (and possibly scary) level: meet guacamole cheese.
The Fresh Market is debuting a guacamole cheese at nationwide Wednesday, May 1 — just in time for Cinco de Mayo.
"Combining the best of both worlds, this gouda-style cheese is a blend of avocado and lime juice with a touch of chili, tomato, onion and garlic," a statement from Fresh Market said. "It can be paired alongside your favorite Mexican dish, shredded over nachos or melted into queso for the ultimate festive dip."
The Amanti Guacamole Cheese will sell for $24.99 per pound and comes in a giant wheel, or it can be purchased by the wedge.
The Fresh Market is the first retailer to offer this cheese, a spokesperson said.
Time to break out the chips, guac lovers. This cheese will only be around for a limited time.
