SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- As summer heats up, it’s time to grab the camping gear and go on a weekend adventure.

Luckily for outdoor enthusiasts, San Diego County has lots of great camping sites to choose from.

Whether you’d rather be by the water or in a desert oasis, the county has a lot to choose from.

Dos Picos County Park - 17953 Dos Picos Park Road, Ramona, CA 92065

The park is sheltered by steep, boulder-covered mountain slopes and highlights the ancient oak groves. For those without camping gear, the park offers two cabins to choose from complete with heaters for those cold nights.

Guajome Regional Park - 3000 Guajome Lake Road, Oceanside, CA 92057

Minutes away from the ocean, Guajome Regional Park is best known for rich natural habitats and historic Rancho Guajome Adobe, according to the county. The park has one cabin with a double bed, fold-out sleeping cots, a full kitchen and a porch.

Lake Morena County Park - 2550 Lake Morena Drive, Campo, CA 91906

The lake attracts lots of anglers, but has something for everyone. From hikers to picnickers to campers, there’s something for everyone at the park. Lake Morena County Park also boasts 10 156-square-foot cabins with lakeside views.

Day-use Hours: Sunrise - 1/2-hour before sunset
Fishing/Boating Hours: Oct. - March: 6 a.m. – 1/2 hour before sunset, daily | April - Sept.: 5:30 a.m. – 1/2 hour before sunset, daily

Sweetwater Summit County Park - 3218 Summit Meadow Road, Bonita, CA 91902

If you’re looking for something a bit closer to home, Sweetwater Summit may be the place for you. According to the county, the park specializes in accommodating equestrians, but also offers activities for all outdoor enthusiasts.
