SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — When it rains in San Diego, it's an event in itself.

Drivers area challenged. Bad hair days are had. San Diegans get bored. What can we say, we're not used to rainy days.

In the event that it does rain and you find yourself puzzled by what to do, take it as an opportunity to stay indoors — but while you're out of the home!

New movies: Usually, there's always something in theaters worth seeing. Usually. In the case of this weekend, you can check out Aquaman, Mary Poppins Returns, Bumblebee, Escape Room, and others. Click the movie to check showtimes or find more.

Visit a local museum: You'll have to go outside in order to get inside, but some time at San Diego's local museums is an educational way to pass the day. In some places, the experience isn't your traditional quiet stroll staring, but an interactive opportunity, like at Fleet Science Center, the Air & Space Museum, and Natural History Museum, to name a few.

Hot chocolate: Rain calls for a warm drink. If we had to choose, that drink might as well be hot chocolate! San Diego Family Magazine has some suggestions of perfect spots to get all that chocolatey goodness in San Diego here.

Spa day: If you can work the calming sound of rain into this one, you get extra points. Take a spa day and pamper yourself with a massage and some relaxation.

Convoy Street food: What's better on rainy days than soup? Better yet, how about a delicious bowl of ramen? Convoy Street in Kearny Mesa has more options than you can count for delicious Asain cuisine. Here's where we suggest going.

Indoor fun: You don't have to force yourself outdoors to get active on a rainy day. Go-karting, rock climbing, SkyZone Trampoline Park, and iFly indoor skydiving can help you fulfill your need for action when it's gloomy outside.

Liberty Public Market: A visit to Liberty Public Market yields some delicious smells from food vendors and cool finds at local booths and shops. Take a stroll around the courtyard (out of the rain) while sipping on some coffee from WestBean Coffee Roasters or enjoying a lobster roll from Wicked Maine Lobster.

Ice skating: Some people enjoy the cold when we get it in San Diego. Might as well enjoy it, it's going to be 75 the rest of the year. But for cold weather fun, hit up the ice rinks at UTC Westfield Shopping Center, Escondido Iceplex, or San Diego Ice Arena.

Bar and arcade fun: Enjoy the rainy day with some retro fun at any of San Diego's bar arcades around town, including Coin-Op in North Park and downtown or Coin Haus in La Mesa.
