Red tide creates eerie neon glow along San Diego coastline
-- San Diego photographers took advantage of the serene and luminous glow of the surf that hit shores. Eerie neon blue waves created some rare photo opportunities; the phenomenon was created by a red tide, which is algae bloom filled with phytoplankton called "dinoflagellates," that rolled off waves onto or near the shoreline.
