SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Everyone swears they know where the best tacos are in San Diego or that their mother's taco recipe is the absolute best — so it's time to find out.

San Diego Magazine and Puesto are looking for the next best taco in town and there's more than bragging rights on the line — though in San Diego, those are pretty great bragging rights.

Winners will have their taco added to Puesto's Taco of the Month menu in June, have their taco named after them, take home $1,000, Puesto swag, two tickets to San Diego Magazine's Best Restaurants party, and, of course, those coveted bragging rights.

Submissions must be made online and include the full recipe and a photo of the finished product. Finalists will be invited to prepare their taco for a panel of judges at Puesto at the Headquarters.

Last year, Bri Geeski took home the top prize in the taco competition, creating a Pickled Pear Carnitas taco, according to Puesto.

The dish consists of a blue corn tortilla filled with slow-cooked carnitas, topped with avocado, cotija cheese, and jalapeño crema, and garnished with red onions, jalapeños, and pears pickled in sweetened apple cider vinegar and peppercorns.
