SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - SeaWorld San Diego Tuesday unveiled its newest thrill ride that is set to open next summer.

SeaWorld officials announced the new dueling roller coaster Tidal Twister will open in summer 2019. Officials said the ride is “the first of its kind in the world.”

Officials added: “Accelerating to 30 mph, riders will twist and bank as if they are riding the tide along a tight figure-8 track that includes dynamic Zero-G roll at the center section.

Two trains, holding 16 passengers each, load at opposite ends of the figure-8 and cross in the center with guests facing both forward and backward on the trains. A lower-height requirement (48") makes this a perfect ride for younger guests and families.”

In addition to the new ride, park officials introduced a new Annual Pass system that will begin in 2019.

The new system includes four Annual Pass tiers, each with different price points and specific benefits. The lowest tier, Bronze, is priced at $7.99 per month, while the top tier, Platinum, costs $19.99 per month.

The announcement of the new attraction comes months after the opening of the Electric Eel thrill ride, which is said to be the tallest and fastest roller coaster in San Diego.

In August, SeaWorld reported an increase attendance and sales at its parks across the country.
