SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The U.S. Sand Sculpting Challenge is back to wow San Diegans with incredible art – all made from sand.
The event returns Labor Day Weekend between August 31 and September 2, 2019.
For this year’s event, the Port of San Diego is creating a beach high above the water, transporting 300 tons of sand to the Broadway Pier, where the event is set to take place.
World Master Sand Sculptures come from all over the world to participate, including the Netherlands, Italy, Canada, Latvia and Russia to challenge the best in the U.S.
According to the Port, the sculptures weigh over 10 tons each.
The event will be open on Saturday and Sunday between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. and Monday between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m.
Even though you can’t take home any of the massive sand sculptures, the event features dimensional art for the home and garden you can take home.
