SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — With kids spending more time at home, the San Diego Zoo is offering little ones more ways to keep their brains active.
San Diego Zoo Global is rolling out 16 weeks of free online video programs for kids ages 7 to 11 called "San Diego Zoo Kids Corner," including things like trivia, arts and crafts, indoor and outdoor activities, and more.
The programs also include virtual visits with animals at the San Diego Zoo and Safari Park, as well as other zoos and aquariums around the world.
“A quarter of a million kids each year visit the San Diego Zoo and San Diego Zoo Safari Park,” said Victoria Garrison, director of education for both facilities. “With so much disruption to normal routines due to the pandemic, we felt this was a fun way to create continuity and connection with kids in this age group, ignite their curiosity and instill empathy for wildlife.”
Weekly half-hour installments will become available over the next four months. The program's first episode, “Animal Builders,” is available now here.
"Kids Corner" will be hosted by San Diego Zoo favorite Dr. Zoolittle, who will lead viewers through lessons with wildlife experts from around the world and engage in inspiring and creative activities. Each episode will take viewers through a new theme, including topics like animal habitats, communications, families, and more.
