SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Birch Aquarium is reopening to the general public Saturday following a closure due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The aquarium plans to reopen for a members-only preview day Friday, with a full reopening for the general public Saturday. Only outdoor spaces will be available to explore.

“In order to offer the best possible experience for guests, all of the aquarium’s outdoor spaces have been activated to offer a variety of activities for guests to explore and enjoy,” the aquarium said.

Areas available include “Tide Pool Plaza,” an area where guests can touch local animals including small sharks and rays, sea hares, and snails.

Registration for the Spring After School Series also opened Monday. The program kicks off April 12.
