Moments before some of Hollywood's biggest stars make their way onto the Dolby Theatre stage to announce which movies, directors and actors will take home an Oscar, they have a chance to hangout inside an underwater-themed green room, or waiting room.
Rolex has been designing the Oscar-night room since 2017. This year, the company said it went with an underwater theme connected to its Perpetual Planet program. Check out the photos above for a sneak peek.
“The Greenroom theme is a celebration of the underwater world, one that Rolex is seeking to help protect through its Perpetual Planet commitment. Our aim is to expand our partnerships with individuals, institutions and organizations that promote exploration and the protection of the environment,” said Arnaud Boetsch, Rolex director of communication and image, in an online news release.
Before going on stage at the 91st #Oscars, presenters of @TheAcademy Awards® will gather in the Greenroom designed by #Rolex. This year, guests are invited on a journey into the underwater world, reflecting Rolex’s long-term commitment to the oceans. #RolexGreenroom #Perpetual

The room was designed to look like an underwater aquarium "framed like a cinema screen from the days of old Hollywood." There is a bronze door shaped like a hatch, images of ocean life back-lit to give it a realistic look, coral-shaped cutouts and colored furniture shaped like waves.
