Actors Leighton Meester and Adam Brody have welcomed their second child together. During an appearance on Hold the Phone TV’s “The Fun Time Boys Game Night Spectacular” from Sept. 4, Brody confirmed the birth of their newborn son.
“I have a new kid,” he said on the Twitch stream. “Since I last played, I have a new kid. I have a boy, and he’s a dream. He’s a dream boy.”
Their daughter, Arlo, was born in 2015. After they met on the set of “The Oranges” in 2011, the couple tied the knot in 2014. They tend to keep their private life private, and Meester did not publicly announce her second pregnancy. Fans spotted a baby bump in late March 2020 when the paparazzi snapped a few photos of her out and about.
“Nobody can tell you what parenthood is going to be like,” Meester, 34, who plays a single mom on the ABC sitcom “Single Parents,” told Glamour in 2018. “You think you know, and then it’s just so hard. I feel so, so lucky that I have help and a husband. I feel stable, but there are so many people who don’t have that. In a really tender way, ‘Single Parents’ explores how parenting is an emotional roller coaster.”
She added that when one of them is out of town shooting for a role, it gives them a glimpse of the challenges single parents experience daily.
“Inevitably you end up with your kid alone, and it’s hard to do anything besides watch your kid,” she explained. “You can’t shower, you can’t eat, you can’t clean. You don’t go to the bathroom alone. You go to the bathroom with a person looking at you. Every time.”
Brody, 40, has a recurring guest role on “Single Parents” in which he plays Meester’s character’s ex. He has also spoken out about his transformative experience with parenthood.
“[Becoming a dad] has given me a perspective on every aspect of my life,” he told USA Today in 2019. “I’m the most content I’ve ever been … It makes [turning 40] more exciting.”
He added that he and his family are “homebodies” and enjoy playing Candy Land together.
Congratulations to the happy family on the newest addition to their brood!
