Morning Anchor Jared Aarons has been with ABC 10News since 2014.

Over the past 10 years, he’s covered some of the biggest stories in San Diego, from the COVID-19 Pandemic, to San Diego’s homelessness and housing crisis, to the Chargers bolting for LA.

During the Pandemic, Jared was one of the first reporters in the nation to do in-depth coverage of Long-COVID and its lasting impact on people’s health. He also worked with the La Jolla Institute on their study of the different vaccines and how long they provided antibodies to the immune system. Jared covered the vaccine roll out at the Petco Park parking lot, biotech companies and breakthroughs that helped create tests and treatments, and he got one of the last one-on-one interviews with Dr. Anthony Fauci before he retired from the NIH.

Because of that, Jared has taken a keen interest in healthcare and the biotech community in San Diego. He’s always looking for stories about scientific breakthroughs in healthcare, as well as initiatives to keep San Diego healthy.

Jared stared his journalism career at KXLF in Butte, Montana. There, while working as an anchor and reporter, he focused on city government and economic development as the city tried to work its way out of an economic downturn.

From 2004 to 2014, Jared covered sports in Eastern Iowa at CBS 2/Fox 28. During his time in Cedar Rapids, he won two Emmy awards as the top Sports Anchor in the Upper Midwest Region. He covered the University of Iowa, Iowa State, Northern Iowa, minor league baseball, indoor football, junior league hockey, and all kinds of local sports. During those years, Jared got to cover The Masters, a Super Bowl, a handful of college bowl games, NCAA and NIT Tournaments, and more high school games than he can count.

Jared is a graduate of the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State University, and a proud Sun Devil fan. He’s also helps coach his son’s youth soccer and little league teams. You can find him running, going to theme parks, collecting bobble-heads, watching movies, or spending time with his family.
