SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Fitness guru Richard Simmons is reportedly doing well after being hospitalized Monday for "severe indigestion."
He's expected to make a full recovery.
"Richard Simmons was hospitalized on Monday at an undisclosed location in California," Simmons' spokesman Michael Catalano told ABC News. "After a few days of battling severe indigestion and discomfort while eating, we agreed it was best for him to seek treatment."
Questions have been circling Simmons' health in recent years, including on a viral podcast called "Missing Richard Simmons." The podcast, which at one point topped Apple iTunes' podcast charts, discusses the "Sweatin to the Oldies" icon and his disappearance from the public eye.
Simmons, 68, was once one of the most accessible celebrities in Los Angeles, and helped people lose weight and achieve better health over decades at his Beverly Hills fitness studio "Slimmons."
Catalano has said that Simmons just wants to take a break from fame.
