Netflix is worried about people doing the "Bird Box Challenge" in honor of the popular horror movie it recently debuted.
In the "Bird Box" film, which has had 45 million views according to Netflix, characters wear blindfolds in order to not see an entity that makes people have hallucinations. Viewers performing the Bird Box Challenge on social media are attempting to prove the difficulty of some of the movie's blindfolded acts, by doing things such as riding scooters, finding their way outside of structures or trying to go up escalators.
Needless to say, there are a lot of fails. Netflix responded on Twitter today telling folks not to get hurt, but thanking them for their love of the movie.
Can’t believe I have to say this, but: PLEASE DO NOT HURT YOURSELVES WITH THIS BIRD BOX CHALLENGE. We don’t know how this started, and we appreciate the love, but Boy and Girl have just one wish for 2019 and it is that you not end up in the hospital due to memes.
