SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Comic-Con is finally here, and for one San Diego brewery, that means it’s time to celebrate.
Hop-Con 6.0 at Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens in Liberty station aims to capitalize on one of San Diego’s biggest industries. The event will take place on Thursday, July 19.
“So this is the convergence of Comic-Con and craft brew obsession,” said Lizzie Younkin with Stone Brewing.
“San Diego has been recently become known at the capital of craft and we’re a lot of self-proclaimed beer nerds around here so when Comic-Con comes to town we want to be part of that.”
The event will boast special beers crafted just for Hop-Con, food stations, games, a live DJ and a costume contest.
Stone Brewing is making sure every detail of the event is unique, even down to the T-Shirt designs.
“The artwork this year depicts a gargoyle. So gargoyles have been for centuries known for warding off evil spirits. For Stone, the gargoyle wards of evil spirits of beer. So for us that’s industrial beer.”
And that’s not all. Part of the proceeds from the T-Shirts will go to the Hero Initiative, an organization that helps comic artists in need.
In the end, Stone Brewing says it’s all about coming together to enjoy some uniquely crafted beer. “We want to make a place where everyone can come together and nerd out on really good craft beer.”
Tickets for the event are $75 and include fifteen 3 ounce tasters, three specialty casks of w00tstout (a special beer created for the event,) a commemorative glass and churros among other items.
