(KGTV) - Of all the words or phrases we say every minute of every day, many Americans still can't seem to stand hearing "whatever," according to an annual poll.

For the ninth straight year, "whatever" sits atop the Marist College poll -- at 33 percent -- for the most annoying words or phrases we say.

However, the phrase "fake news" is a new addition to the poll and came in second at 23 percent. "No offense" came in third on the list, followed by "literally" (11 percent) and then "you know what I mean" (10 percent).

The Marist College poll surveyed 1,074 adults between Nov. 6-9, with a margin of error of plus/minus 3 percent.
