Kentucky Fried Chicken offering parents money to name their baby Harland

Posted

(KGTV) - If you name your baby after Colonel Sanders, Kentucky Fried Chicken will pay you for it.

The fried chicken chain is offering parents $11,000 to name their baby Harland, the first name of the restaurant’s founder. The money, according to KFC, will go towards the child’s college education.

Besides naming the newborn child Harland, there are two key requirements in this unusual contest:

-- The baby must be born on September 9, 2018 (between midnight-11:59 p.m.)
-- Starting Sept. 9, participants must upload a birth certificate, hospital records or other official documents to kfc.com/babyharland to show the child is the first Harland born in the U.S. on the required date

The September 9 date was chosen in honor of Colonel Sanders’ 128th birthday. The $11,000 prize is for the 11 herbs and spices used in KFC’s fried chicken recipe.
