'American Idol' audition bus to kick off tour in San Diego

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Start your warming up your singing voice. Your chance at fame is just a couple months away.

American Idol's touring audition bus will hit the road later this year, with San Diego as its first stop on August 25. Contestants must be at least 15-years-old to try out. Here's the bus's full tour:

  • Orlando, Fla. - Aug. 25
  • San Diego, Calf. - Aug. 25
  • Chattanooga, Tenn. - Aug. 28
  • Scottsdale, Ariz. - Aug. 28
  • Charlotte, N.C. - Aug. 31
  • Albuquerque, N.M. - Aug. 31
  • Seattle, Wash. - Aug. 31
  • Boise, Idaho - Sept. 2
  • Richmond, Va. - Sept. 3
  • Plano, Texas - Sept. 3
  • Houston, Texas - Sept. 4
  • Austin, Texas - Sept. 6
  • Philadelphia, Penn. - Sept. 6
  • Oklahoma City, Okla. - Sept. 6
  • Buffalo, N.Y. - Sept. 9
  • Kansas City, Mo. - Sept. 9
  • Shreveport, La. - Sept. 9
  • Columbus, Ohio - Sept. 12
  • Little Rock, Ark. - Sept. 12
  • Charleston, W. Va. - Sept. 15

More cities are slated to be added in the coming weeks. If you can't wait or you're ready to go, auditions for the new season are already open for online submissions here. Hopefuls can also showcase their talents on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter or Musical.ly using the hashtag #TheNextIdol.

San Diego has yet to have a local singer crowned the next American Idol, but the city has been represented by a number of contestants and runners-up, including Jessica Sanchez, Adam Lambert, Avalon Young, and Carly Smithson.

"American Idol" will return for its 17th season on ABC10.
