When a 4-year-old Wyoming girl was attacked by a dog, her big brother Bridger, age 6, stepped in to save the day. The heroic act landed the little boy in the hospital, where he required 90 stitches.
The siblings’ aunt, Nicole Walker, took to Instagram to praise her nephew’s bravery, explaining that when asked why he jumped in to save his sister, Bridger said, “If someone was going to die, I thought it should be me.”
The proud aunt tagged a number of stars from the “Avengers” movies, writing, “We love our brave boy and want all the other superheroes to know about this latest hero who joined their ranks.”
Chris Evans, who plays Captain America in the franchise, saw the sweet story and reached out to Bridger in a video of his own to let him know he would be sending him his very own shield.
“Hey, Bridger. Captain America here. How you doing, buddy?” Evans says in the video. “So I read your story. I saw what you did. I’m sure you’ve heard a lot of this over the last couple of days, but let me be the next one to tell you: Pal, you’re a hero. What you did was so brave, so selfless. Your sister is so lucky to have you as a big brother. Your parents must be so proud of you.”
“I’m going to track down your address, and I’m going to send you an authentic Captain America shield because pal, you deserve it,” he tells the boy. “Keep being the man you are. We need people like you.”
How sweet!
Evans retweeted a clip of the moment, writing, “Get this man a shield.”

Evans wasn’t the only superhero actor to reach out to this brave kid. Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner/Hulk/Professor), Tom Holland (Spiderman), Hugh Jackson (Wolverine), Zachary Levi (Fandral) and Robbi Amell (The Flash) all contacted the little superhero to show their support.
Congratulations to Bridger on his awesome act of bravery, and we can’t wait to see him with his shield once he receives it!
