SAN DIEGO -- Three 18-year-olds -- two men and a woman who recently moved into an apartment in the College area -- were pistol-whipped Monday by robbers who were apparently looking to steal drugs from previous tenants, police said. Two to three men and a woman entered the apartment in the 7200 block of El Cajon Boulevard through an open front window around 12:30 a.m., San Diego police Sgt. Bob Dare said. They first pistol-whipped an 18-year-old man in the kitchen, then did the same to an 18-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman in a bedroom, Dare said.
"The suspects made demands as if looking for drugs, apparently unaware that the victims had recently moved in and were not who they were looking for," Dare said. All three victims were then forced into a bathroom while the bandits ransacked the apartment, according to the sergeant. The bandits, who wore ski masks, stole wallets, cell phones and a purse before fleeing, Dare said.None of the tenants were seriously hurt, he said.
