MOUNTAIN VIEW (CNS) - Two people were injured, one seriously, in an early-morning crash Sunday between a car and a truck on Interstate 805.
The crash was on the northbound 805 approaching Imperial Avenue, and it closed the freeway for about three hours, California Highway Patrol officers said.
The incident was reported at 3:22 a.m., CHP Sgt. Ernest Garcia said.
"A call came in of a major-injury collision and a vehicle overturned with a person ejected,'' Garcia said. "A Toyota Prius following a Peterbilt truck too close behind became entangled with it, eventually disengaging which caused the Prius to lose control and overturn.''
Garcia identified the occupants of the Prius as a man and woman in their early 20s. He said the woman sustained major injuries when she was ejected from the vehicle. He said the man received moderate injuries.
Garcia said alcohol was suspected of being a factor in the crash.
The driver of the Peterbilt was not injured.
A SigAlert completely closing the freeway was issued at 3:45 a.m., Garcia said. He said the freeway was reopened to traffic at 6:46 a.m.
