RAMONA (KGTV)--One person is dead following a police pursuit that ended Wednesday afternoon as a deadly deputy involved shooting.

The San Diego Sheriff's Department is still investigating the shooting that occurred shortly after 1:30 p.m. on Wildcat Canyon Road at Ketuull Uunyaa Way on the Barona Reservation.

Officials told 10News reporter Robert Santos that the incident began when a call came in as somebody driving recklessly on the reservation.

After a short pursuit that involved the solo occupant suspect going on and off the road, the suspect stopped, got out of a white truck and was extremely uncooperative and tried to re-enter his vehicle, said Sheriff's public information officer Ryan Keim.

Sheriff's deputies then used bean bag rounds and stop sticks to try to prevent him from leaving but he succeeded in taking off again.

Two deputies then fired causing the suspect's vehicle to hit strike a deputy's vehicle and another car, Keim said.

Two people in that car were injured and transported to the hospital, he added.

A large number of sheriff's deputies were on scene as well as three ambulances.
