CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. – Veterans who support President-elect Donald Trump gathered outside Camp Pendleton’s gates Friday morning to show their support and celebrate his election victory.

The Veterans for Trump group gathered at the intersection of San Rafael and Harbor drives across from Camp Pendleton, to show their support for the president-elect.

Holding "Make America Great Again" signs and waving American flags, the supporters told 10News they knew Trump would be the right choice.

"This is our guy, no one will fight for veterans more than Donald Trump," rally organizer and Veteran Jeff Schwilk said.

Schwilk said veterans have been mistreated for too long.

"We're looking forward to him taking over as commander-in-chief and getting things back to the right way, the way they should be."

The group expressed that they are tired of the anti-Trump protests and wanted to do something to show their support for him. They felt that Veterans Day would be the best time to do that.

"This rally is to say congratulations to the president, but to also say, 'Mr. President we're going to hold your feet to the fire and make sure you promise to do what you said you're going to do,'" said Dr. Wiley S. Drake, a veteran who drove from Buena Park to attend the rally.

"If that happens, all military will be blessed and things will be better," Drake continued.

He and others at the rally say veterans have been mistreated for too long.

"They go to the government and the government says, 'take a hike or wait in line,'” Drake said. “Mr. Trump will change that so veterans will get the service they need.”

Supporters also gathered to celebrate the Marine Corps’ birthday. It turned 241 Thursday.

Organizers said they wanted the Oceanside rally to be "epic, fun and safe."
