VALLEY CENTER, Calif. (KGTV) – Valley Center remembered and honored a family killed by a suspected drunk driver.

Scott Latulippe, his wife, Nancy, and son, Jackson were killed driving on an Austin, Texas road over the weekend after police say Guy Brasted crashed his car into them.  Brasted is facing intoxication and manslaughter charges.

“It’s a choice to act responsibly,” Scott’s cousin, Mark Latulippe said.  “And this person did not do that, and he ended the lives of an amazing family.”

Mark says the family was driving to the airport when the crash happened.  They were in Austin looking to buy rental property.

“These people were setting up their children’s future, this is their tactic for that,” he said.

The Latulippe’s 10-year-old daughter, Kiera, was the lone survivor of the crash.  Her mother and brother died in the crash.  Her father spent days in the hospital but died this morning.

Scott Latulippe was a teacher at Valley Center High School. His son was a freshman at the school.

Kiera walked down to the field Friday night for the coin toss before the school's playoff football game.  Students lined the stadium with signs expressing their support for the Latulippe family.

After the game, the students held a vigil for Kiera and her family.
