A Chicago-area man made his way to Las Vegas this week to continue a tradition that no person hopes to have to continue.

More than a year after he brought crosses to Orlando to honor the victims of the Pulse nightclub shooting, Greg Zanis arrived in Las Vegas Thursday with more than 58 white crosses in tow.

"I feel that Las Vegas is having one of its darkest days in American history, but I'm trying to shed a light on that by bringing hope with the cross and showing 'you weren't alone' when this happened," Zanis said.

Zanis, who founded the nonprofit Crosses for Losses, set up the handmade crosses in the center divide along South Las Vegas Boulevard near the iconic "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas" sign.

The sign itself has become a memorial for the lives lost in Sunday's shooting at the Route 91 music festival.
