Arson investigators look into truck explosion, fire at Fairmount Park apartment complex

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Authorities are investigating an explosion early Thursday morning that destroyed a truck parked at a Fairmount Park-area apartment complex.

The incident was reported at about 2:30 a.m. in the 1500 block of 38th Street, according to authorities.

As crews responded to the blaze, a man ran into an apartment building and rushed his family to safety.

The fire was knocked down quickly, and no injuries were reported.

Residents told 10News another car believed to be owned by the same person also caught fire in the same place a few months ago.

10News learned arson investigators were summoned to the scene to aid in the fire probe.
