San Diego (KGTV) - Federal records show Swift Transportation Company’s safety record is satisfactory.
A truck with a Department of Transportation number registered back to the company was involved in a deadly crash on northbound SR-125 at Interstate 8 in La Mesa Wednesday.
A rating of satisfactory indicates “no evidence of substantial non-compliance with safety requirements.”
According to federal data, the company’s got 17,819 trucks and more than 21,000 drivers.
Officials tell Team 10 it’s one of the largest transportation companies out there.
Team 10 discovered in the past two years company trucks went through tens of thousands of vehicle and driver inspections.
They were pulled off the road for violations less than the national average.
Investigators tell Team 10 they are combing through inspections records and electronic logs for the truck involved in Wednesday's deadly accident.
They’ve also discovered the truck had a dash camera, and are trying to get video from that camera if it was recording.
