SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A Pacific Beach couple is worried after someone left on their cat's collar on Thomas Street near Cass Street.

On Tuesday, Hugo Feu and Carolyn Bormann found a note that said “This kitty is going away with his new PB friends on the first of September" taped and wrapped around their cat Lygher's collar.

“I was just shocked," Carolyn said. "And I was scared. I thought who would take my cat, I love that cat and that cat’s my baby.”

Feu says the next night, someone ripped off Lygher's collar with their home address and phone numbers on it.

“That’s when the fear really kicked in, and start thinking they’re going to hurt him,” Feu said.

They've tried to keep Lygher inside, but say the cat is used to being outside and is miserable.

“Everybody loves him," Feu said. "People stop by and they know his name and they stop by just to say hi to the cat. That’s how awesome he is.”

They made posters warning neighbors of the incident, and hope it scares away anyone who wants to hurt Lygher.

They reported the note to Animal Control but nothing can be done since it wasn't a crime.
