CARLSBAD, Calif. (KGTV)--A distraught North County dog owner is hoping to warn others amid a series of deadly coyote attacks.
On Friday morning, Pam Nagata let her two dogs go to bathroom in her fenced backyard on Jacaranda Ave.
She went inside and prepared for work, but one of the dogs ran back out to go again. That's when she heard a bloodcurdling yelp.
She found Ziggy, her 6-year-old Rat Terrier mix, bitten four times in the neck.
She raced him to the vet but he didn't make it.
Nagata says her Encinitas veterinarian has seen three dogs killed by coyotes in three days, and the likely reason: a busy pupping season and mothers in search of food.
