A private pilot escaped injury Tuesday when a light plane flipped over on a runway at Montgomery Field.
The accident at the Serra Mesa-area general-aviation airport occurred shortly after 6 p.m., according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
The pilot was able to get out of the upside-down Cessna on his own and told emergency crews he needed no medical treatment, SDFRD spokesman Lee Swanson said.
It was not immediately clear if the man was trying to take off or was landing when the crash occurred.
