SAN DIEGO –Scripps Health reported this week that it is letting go of about 100 employees.
In a company memo circulated Tuesday, CEO Chris Van Gorder said the layoffs will come in the human resources and marketing departments. The layoffs will take effect next week.
In the memo, Gorder wrote: “I want to emphasize that Scripps is financially strong, but we cannot continue to allow our costs and operations to rise while our revenue continues to be flat.”
The nonprofit San Diego-based health care system operates four hospitals and 25 outpatient centers and clinics. It employs more than 13,000 employees, according to its website, and has more than 2,600 affiliated physicians.
