RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. (KGTV)--Homicide detectives are investigating the death of a 71-year-old man after his wife found him inside their gated mansion suffering from upper body trauma Tuesday, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.
A 911 call was placed around noon about a possible assault with a deadly weapon at 17221 La Brisa, said Lt. Kenn Nelson. The man's wife returned from running errands to find her husband dead inside the home.
Sheriff's said she immediately called 911 and waited for deputies and paramedics to arrive.
There were no indications of a break-in and no reports of shots fired from neighbors, said Nelson.
They are attempting to obtain search warrants and are in the process of interviewing neighbors.
