SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A San Diego man who spent more than 20 years in the tech industry is using his skills to give marijuana growers a different way to track their plants.

Steve Mackey founded Lodestone Technologies, which specializes in Radio Frequency Identification Tags for cannabis cultivators.

Mackey previously worked with libraries to track their books and other inventory before making the switch to cannabis.

He says the tags are more efficient and accurate than bar codes.

Lodestone is currently in the pilot stage with several San Diego companies and expecting to offer the tracking technology to the rest of the California cannabis industry next month.
