CLAIREMONT, Calif. - The force is strong in Clairemont.
Following the Chargers' move to Los Angeles, residents living on Charger Boulevard have been torn between two sides: Keep the street name or change it. And residents have reportedly been leaning away from the Dark Side.
Now it seems Luke Skywalker himself, actor Mark Hamill, has given residents his nod of approval.
"A groundswell beings w/ just ONE! Thank you [Chris Cate] for giving fellow San Diegans that chance to (potentially) walk all over me! Gr8ful" the "Star Wars" actor tweeted Friday.

Hamill, a former Clairemont resident, referred to a video posted by San Diego City Councilman Chris Cate, who covers Clairemont in District 6. In the video, Cate gave his support to any changes residents can gather support for.
"If the residents of Clairemont wish to collect the required amount of signatures and proceed with changing their street name from Charger Blvd. to honor Mark Hamill, they have my full-fledged support." Cate said in the video.
Residents would need to submit a petition with at least 25 percent of residents' signatures to the City Council for a decision on changing the street name. If everyone on the street signs the petition, City Council approval would not be needed.
