SAN DIEGO — Attempts to identify a young man who was fatally shot while breaking into a Lemon Grove home on Tuesday have been unsuccessful, the San Diego Sheriff's Department said.

Two armed men entered the home of Francisco Suarez and shot his 22-year-old son.

Details of the investigation have not been released but the deceased man was shot by Suarez in the torso and succumbed to his wounds.

The second intruder fled the scene in a vehicle. He has not been located but a sheriff's representative said when he is found he could face murder charges. Suarez is not facing any charges.

The San Diego County Medical Examiner completed its autopsy and released the cause of death as a gunshot wound to the torso. The man is believed to be between the ages of 18-25 years old.

However, the Sheriff's Department said "all attempts to identify the decedent have been met with negative results" so they plan to release photos of the man's clothing and a personal item found in his possession.

We'll bring you those photos as soon as they are made available to us.
