ENCINITAS, Calif. (KGTV) - An Encinitas woman has a warning for pet owners that coyotes aren't the only animals lurking near your yard.
Around 5:30 a.m. Friday along Avenida Esteban, Char Larsen let her 3-year-old dog Ruby out in her backyard to do her business.
Seconds later, Larsen heard a piercing scream. She raced out and saw the Mini Schnauzer mix bleeding, and a catlike creature leaping her fence.
Ruby needed surgery for five bite marks around her neck but will survive.
The creature left a paw print on the fence. We sent a photo of the print to an expert who confirmed it was likely a bobcat.
