(KGTV) - A Ventura County man took the plunge of a lifetime Wednesday evening, though didn't find himself safely on the ground for quite some time thereafter.
The 19-year-old man was left dangling nearly 100 feet in the air for almost 20 minutes after a bungee-jump ride at the Ventura County Fair suffered a mechanical failure, according to Ventura Fire Department.
Two people in the cage from which the bungee cord was connected were also trapped, as the failure prevented the cage from lowering to the ground as well.

VFD crews were able to reach the man just after 8 p.m. using an aerial ladder truck to support him from underneath as they disconnected him from the cord.

The man was uninjured.
However, crews were unable to reach the cage with the aerial ladder. Instead, VFD crews used a rope system to rappel the other two people down from the cage.

They, too, also walked away uninjured, according to VFD.
Crews are still investigating the cause of the ride malfunction.
