SAN DIEGO – A man jumped out of the window of a moving tow truck on State Route 94 in the Golden Hill neighborhood of San Diego overnight Tuesday.

Sometime before midnight, a man who was involved in a minor accident requested a tow truck on westbound SR-94 near 28th Street.

After hitching the car, the tow truck driver claims the man climbed into the tow truck and requested a ride home. The driver countered that he could take the man to the tow yard, where he would have to have someone come and pick him up.

After the tow truck began moving, the man made it clear he wanted to get out. As the tow truck driver was looking to pull over, the man jumped out the window.

"I'm looking to my left, trying to build up speed, I turn around, and next thing you know, he's gone," tow truck driver Alex Ramirez told 10News.

California Highway Patrol officers responded. The man was conscious as he was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital. His exact injuries were not confirmed.

The truck still transported the car to the tow yard.
