SAN DIEGO, Calif. (KGTV) -- A man was hospitalized Friday, with minor injuries, after his RV caught on fire in Ocean Beach.
San Diego Fire officials say the fire was first reported just after 3:30 p.m. on Voltaire Street. The flames and thick black smoke could be seen for blocks.
Witnesses say the fire grew out of control in a matter of minutes, spreading to the bird store and a house next door. People who live nearby were worried that the bird store had the animals inside. Firefighters say both structures were empty at the time of the fire.
The owner of the RV suffered minor burns to his hand, but was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The damage to all three properties is estimated at $750,000.
