SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – The northbound Interstate 805 exit to Kearny Villa Road was shut down Tuesday morning after the formation of a massive sinkhole.
The 25-feet wide, 25-feet deep sinkhole was reported at around 8:15 a.m. Monday on the right lane of the exit ramp, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Officials said they believe a broken pipe collapsed a culvert, causing the road to cave in on the off-ramp.
Tuesday afternoon, Caltrans confirmed that the off-ramp would remain closed throughout the evening commute.
