SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Three people escaped serious injury after the car they were in caught fire on state Route 94 in Lemon Grove.
At around 12:15 a.m. Friday, the driver of a car traveling eastbound on SR-94 told 10News that he noticed smoke coming from the engine and pulled over near the College Grove area.
Once stopped, the driver and two passengers got out of the vehicle as it burst into flames.
The occupants and some motorists who stopped to help grabbed personal belongings from the car as the fire raged.
Firefighters arrived and knocked down the flames in about 10 minutes.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is unknown.
