NATIONAL CITY, Calif. (KGTV) - The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department announced an arrest Monday in a murder investigation dating back to 2005 in National City.
19-year-old Luis Vasquez was stabbed to death on Highland Ave during an unprovoked attack by three gang members, according to National City Police Lt. David Bavencoff.
Investigators identified two of the three suspects in 2005. One was arrested in 2005. The other suspect was not arrested until January 2017 because he fled to Mexico after the murder, said Bavencoff.
Police received enough evidence this year to arrest the third suspect, 30-year-old Anthony Rivers in La Mesa.
Lt. Bavencoff said all three suspects were gang members.
