SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The ex-husband of missing San Diego Army veteran Julia Jacobson was arrested Friday on suspicion of murder, her sister said.

Dalen Payne Ware is currently being held in the 4th Ave. Jail in Phoenix, Arizona.

Julia Jacobson, 37, was originally reported as a missing person in September.  Police had leads including an unconfirmed text message sent to Jacobson's friend and surveillance video showing Jacobson at the 7-Eleven on Aero Dr.

San Diego Police officers found Jacobson's car abandoned at 2600 Monroe Avenue in University Heights. The car was unlocked and all of the windows were rolled down.

Forensic evidence from the car, along with other investigation actions, indicated that Jacobson had been murdered, detectives said.

The FBI and Phoenix Police arrested Jacobson's ex-husband at his home in Laveen, Arizona. He will be transferred to the San Bernardino County West Valley Detention Center this week.

Investigators do not know the location of Jacobson and her Wheaten terrier, Boogie. Any information should be forwarded to the San Diego Police Missing Persons Unit at 619-531-2277.

On a public Facebook page, the family shared the following statement:

"Words cannot express the pain and anguish our family has endured since our beloved sister and daughter Julia Jacobson went missing. It is truly incredible the way Julia’s family, friends, co-workers, employer and complete strangers have come together. We cannot overstate our sincere appreciation for all of those who have provided their prayers, support and resources.

However, it is with a heavy heart we must share that we were informed by the Ontario, CA Police Department that Julia and Boogie are deceased. The tireless work by both the San Diego and Ontario Police Departments have led to the arrest of Julia’s ex-husband, who has been charged in her murder."
